The signature lemon cakes at The Alternative Baker are baked in old-school fluted molds using a Depression-era recipe, which includes all-natural butter, fresh whole eggs, pure lemon juice, and fresh buttermilk. The result: a soft, velvety interior; a crisp but delicate shell; and a taste that’s like a pastry version of lemonade.

Absolutely loved this experience- comfy seats with good sound – and a reasonably recent movie showing – the people working there are super friendly. The Rosendale Theatre also does live performances and movie showings of special events.

Gerard Swarthout takes a discerning, matter-of-fact approach to his menu and food prep, putting in the work where it makes sense. At the Truss & Trestle Diner, things like the corned beef, pastrami, and brisket are brined and smoked onsite, and the fries are hand-cut. The crab cakes for the BLT special are made in-house, the cod for the fish and chips is fresh.

Upon arrival at the Postage Inn for pickup, there was a very friendly and smiling James with my order all ready to go. Our meals were fantastic! The wings were absolutely bursting with flavor, and were thick and meaty, but also crispy on the outside. The burger was the kind that you always hope to get…
